What’s with all this Aries Energy?
Preponderance of Planets in Aries
Ever since March 22nd, we have had at least four planets in the sign of Aries, and tomorrow, April 14th, we shall have five. I say “at least” because if planets such as the dwarf planet Eris and the esoteric planet Vulcan are counted, there have been even more planets in this sign.
Suffice it to say that on April 14th, we shall have about half of the planets in Aries. This begs a close examination of this sign … Aries wants to be noticed!
If you want to skip all the technicalities on the various meanings of Aries, you can go to the next-to-last section, “Why the Current Cluster of Planets in Aries is Important”.
Introduction to the Meaning of Aries
When I first began to study astrology, I was told that Aries is the sign of “new beginnings”. I was also told that Aries is the sign of “self-awareness”. But Aries is more than that.
Each sign represents a different type of consciousness, and where we have that sign in our birth charts shows where in our lives that type of consciousness is focused. It also shows the department of life where we can evolve within that type of consciousness and grow into a more spiritual awareness of that sign.
But with Aries, it’s not just a case of sitting back and meditating and perceiving a higher realization of self awareness or a new beginning. On an esoteric level, that can be part of it. However, on a day-to-day, exoteric, 3D level, Aries represents self-initiated action. Where we have Aries, we must take action to begin something or to set the rest of our life into gear. That is because on this 3D level, the ruler of Aries is Mars, the god of war. So the house where you find Aries in your chart is where you must take self-initiated action.
Three Levels of Planetary Rulership
Each sign has three levels of planetary rulership. The planetary ruler of a sign on the 3D level is the planet that is most familiar to us as ruling that sign. This planet -- Mars in the case of Aries -- denotes the type of energy we can use to develop the consciousness of that sign as it pertains to our personality.
There are two other levels of planetary sign rulership beyond the 3D, personality, level. The first is the esoteric, or Soul-centered level. The planet that rules a sign on this level is called the esoteric ruler of that sign. We can use the energy of that planet to help fulfill our particular Soul’s purpose for the present incarnation.
The highest level of planetary sign rulership is called the “Hierarchical” rulership. The Hierarchy consists of the group of Ascended Masters and other dedicated Higher Beings that are committed to instilling Universal Love on our planet. After we are well on the path to fulfilling our Soul’s purpose, the energy of the Hierarchical ruler of a sign can be used to actively participate in the Hierarchy’s efforts.
Aries: Exoteric, Esoteric, and Hierarchical
Exoteric Aries. Returning to Mars as the 3D, personality-oriented ruler of Aries, the energy of Mars represents the “oomph” to get us started on any particular project, activity, or new phase in our life. Mars can represent the energy of personal desire, i.e., “I want”. This is the lowest vibration of Mars’ energy. Once a person has learned to put her/his personal desires into perspective and learned to be more objective about them, Mars represents the energy of self will and self-assertion. On this level, Mars represents the energy of being, the “I am” energy, pure assertion of the self based on one’s awareness of oneself.
Esoteric Aries. On the esoteric, Soul-oriented, level, Aries is surprisingly ruled by Mercury. This may be a little startling to practitioners of traditional astrology, where Mercury is associated with Gemini and Virgo. However, in mythology Mercury was the Messenger of the Gods. The Soul’s purpose of Aries is to be that Messenger, but this can only occur only at the point when one can see the world through objective eyes, is comfortable on a higher-mental level of consciousness, and has begun to open to the energy of Intuition. When a person is responsive to this higher energy vibration of Mercury, that person is identifying with her/his Soul.
I have capitalized “Intuition” above because true intuition partakes of sacred, Divine energy that originates on the Plane of Intuition, a plane above the mental planes, where even abstract thought is transcended in favor of true spiritual insight, which I call “Direct Knowing”. This Plane of Intuition, is called the Buddhic Plane and the Plane of Divine Love. The Kingdom of Souls resides on this plane, and it is said to be the home of the Human Soul. Intuition can be tapped when the heart is open to Universal Love and there is a desire to help fulfill the Divine Plan.
Aries is esoterically known as the “Birthplace of Divine Ideas”. It is where the Divine Blueprint for our planet can be perceived and distilled into ideas that can help the evolution of Humanity and that of our planet as a whole. The esoteric keynote for Aries is “I come forth and from the plane of mind, I rule.”
If you look at the glyph of Mercury, you see a horizontal crescent at the top, which can be thought of as a cup that receives higher energy. Below the crescent is the circle of wholeness, where this higher energy is incorporated into consciousness. And below the circle is the cross of matter, where consciousness is brought into physical manifestation. Thus the Soul-level, esoteric energy of Mercury is that of receiving Divine Wisdom, incorporating it into one’s consciousness by formulating it into a thought form, then articulating that thought form so that it can be put to use on a material level.
Hierarchical Aries. From the point of view of the Hierarchy, Uranus is the planet that rules Aries. I interpret Uranus as the energy of the Higher Self, that Divine Spark that is within us and is our essence. This can be described as “one cell in the body of God”. Uranus represents Divine Will energy as it seeks to manifest in one’s life. Uranus is the energy of the universal Divine Will, as well as the Will of one’s Higher Self, which partakes of that universal Divine Will.
Aries represents the principle of being one’s self and acting upon that principle. But the way that one defines “one’s self” determines which level of Aries is active in one’s life. On the Hierarchical level, one’s self has become one’s Self, meaning that the individual sees his true Self as her/his Higher Self.
So on this Hierarchical level, Aries acts not on his personal behalf, but upon instructions received from the Higher Self. In fact, the lower self has become one with the Higher Self, and actions are based upon the Divine Will flowing through the Soul and the personality. (At this point in evolution, the Soul and personality are actually one; they are fused together, but that a subject for another time.)
Why the Current Cluster of Planets in Aries is Important
The current grouping of planets in Aries is important because it contains Uranus, the energy of the Higher Self. And tomorrow, April 14th, it will become even more important because it will include Mercury, the Soul-level ruler of Aries.
So we are in a time of new beginnings, not only personal new beginnings, but a Divinely- inspired beginning of a new type of consciousness on our planet. It is also a time when new types of inventions are being perceived and new types of thought forms are being formulated. These inventions and thought forms shall help ease the way toward the illumination of planet Earth, the opening of human hearts, and the alignment of human will with Divine Will so that our planet shall become what it has been meant to be: A true Home of brotherly and sisterly love among Humanity.
Most Important Spiritual Festival of the Year on April 25th
We are coming up on the annual Full Moon during the solar month of Taurus, called the Wesak Festival, which is the most important time of the year for invoking Divine energy upon our planet. The date will be April 25th, and this Full Moon will be even more potent than those in past years because it will be the time of a lunar eclipse. If you wish to join in this important invocation, you can get into a calm, relaxed state, align with your Higher Self, and say the following, which is known as The Great Invocation. Many around the world will be saying this invocation three days prior to the Full Moon and three days afterward. Of course, the time of greatest effect is that of the Full Moon itself, which will be at 7:57 p.m. Universal Time. In the US , the time will be 3:57 p.m. Eastern, 2:57 p.m. Central, 1:57 p.m. Mountain, and 12:57 p.m. Pacific.
In this invocation, “Christ” represents the Cosmic Christ or the Christ Principle. You do not have to have a Christian background to partake of this energy. It is the energy of Divine, Universal Love, or the Heart of God, so to speak.
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
